About Me

Hi, let me tell you a little bit about myself...

I grew up in Surrey but moved to London after university. While several years were spent living and working abroad (US and Australia), home and family life are now firmly back in London.

So how did I discover the wonderful world of doulas?

I used to be a PR account director and copywriter with periods spent happily as a stay at home mum. As my children grew older and more independent, I felt committed to retrain and work in a supportive, nurturing capacity. I always found it rewarding being an active volunteer in my children's schools and currently I'm a volunteer dresser/stylist for the incredible charity Smart Works which helps empower women with a strong sense of self worth as they search for new employment.

Learning about the role of a doula was a lightbulb moment for me and start of an exciting new direction. To be part of the magic of birth, this time as an emotional and physical support to other women, felt - and is - such a privilege.

Doula training

I completed my training with the inspiring Kicki Hansard, award winning author and celebrated doula at the BirthBliss Academy. I continue to learn as much as I can about the birth world, keeping up to date with the latest opinions and research.

My own births

As is often the case, each was very different. My daughter caught us by surprise coming 2-3 weeks early - she had been in breech position but luckily turned at the end of pregnancy. My first son's arrival was in the middle of a major house renovation, a stressful time when home felt like a building site. There were some complications during the birth of my third child but, like the other two, I was blessed with a beautiful healthy baby.

Looking back I'd have loved the support and reassurance of a doula especially as I had concerns during pregnancy and when things didn't go quite as planned on the day.

My role as a doula

I would describe myself as someone who cares deeply, is a good listener, who always stands up for what is right. As a doula this means looking after your best interests, being a constant source of support and advocating on your behalf if ever needed. I'm very organised and like to be well prepared for any scenario. My aim is provide parents with the knowledge and confidence to make decisions that are right for them and to feel secure knowing I will be there for them before, during and after the birth.
